Nash consultant Simon Crow has banked tamed one of the biggest common carp in the world with a colossal 83lb fish known as Colin from French venue Echo Pool – and possibly one of the biggest carp yet reported on a 9 ft Scope.

Simon, 44, from Brough, East Yorkshire bagged his new personal best and venue rerecord during a five day session that started in style with another of the venue’s A Team, a 67lb mirror called Gordon and was followed with a scraper fifty known as The Silver Common.

Fishing at 60 yards to a no fishing bank, Simon hooked the big one on his final morning: “It kited a long way left immediately and I knew straight away it was a big fish, it was just a dead weight.

“When it rolled on the surface I knew straight away which fish it was, it hadn’t been out for three months and talk was that it could be close to 80 lb as it had made 78lb earlier in the year. When I slipped the net under it, I was blown away! The lake is only a few acres and this fish has grown on from 20lb since it was stocked just over ten years ago. It is a colossal carp, in immaculate condition and to land it on a Scope rod shows exactly what these tools are capable of.”

Crowy used a snowman hookbait with a 20mm Scopex Squid bottom bait and a 15mm prototype bait known as The Key® which is due for release early 2015.
